Hart's EHBMTG

This march was written for my friend Jessica Hart of Torrington, CT. EHBMTG stands for "East Hampton Boys Meets Torrington Girls", a phrase she coined describing my group of friends who are made up of East Hampton and Torrington residents. Jes was an active particpant in the music program at Torrington High School as both a singer and euphonium player. She is currently a fellow music education major at CCSU. She is a big fan of broadway musicals, and this march plays around with that style. One motif can be heard as the contant low brass off beats and syncopated melodies. The trio features a rolicking low brass counter melody under the snappy wind line. The conversational final strain includes quotes from Frank Ticheli's "American Elegy" (her favorite wind piece) and The Beatles' "Blackbird".
