Robinson's Mind Entrée
This march was written for my best friend Robert Robinson. Rob and I have known each other since 5th grade, and have been through some great times. He was an active particpant of the music program throughout high school, playing trumpet and euphonium. He is primarily however, an exceptional guitar player. Currently a guitar performance major at CCSU, Rob plays euphonium in concert band, and guitar in "Central Station", an elite jazz combo. In addition to performance, Rob is enjoys compositional experimentation, mostly with synthesized mediums. Together, his musical efforts are known as "Fijijiji". This march is attempt to describe would it would be like inside Rob's head (a frightening notion). After a somewhat uneasy first strain, the second strain features the Beatles song "Octopus's Garden". After the trumpet featured and rhythmically complex trio, it bursts into Rob's tongue-in-cheek compostion "Some Marches are Unconventional and Improvised" (Rob has always poked fun at marches). It ends with the theme from "Ad Campaign", a comical video found on YouTube, as well as a trailing off mess of percussion, emulating the playback of an incomplete work in Sibelius.
