The New Fulton Band

James M. Fulton was a prolific composer of band music and wrote over a hundred fine marches. In 1899, he directed the “Fulton American Band” in Connecticut. Unfortunately, Fulton, like many other great composers, has been relatively forgotten throughout the years. While his marches “Gary Owen” and “Associate Press” remain popular today, most of his works are known only to march enthusiasts. Jeff Yaeger of Milipitas, California, is attempting to revitalize the memory of James Fulton, and has founded “The New Fulton Band”. Mr. Yaeger contacted me informing of his group, and have since remained in correspondence and support of his project. This march is dedicated to Jeff Yaeger and his New Fulton Band. As my personal ode to Fulton, I have quoted some of his works in this march. The Waterbury American and WNAC is used in the second strain. Golf Girl can be heard in the first trio repeat, and Saint Patrick's Day jig (heard in his Gary Owen march) is played by the upper winds after the breakstrain. The lyrical hymn-like trio is common to me, but not of Fulton's marches.

This march premiered Summer 2008 by the New Fulton Band.
