Windham Concert Band
I had the pleasure of performing with the Windham Concert Band of Connecticut under the direction of Kate Niemasik. I joined this all-volunteer community band with my friend Rich Manning, who resides in the vicinity. I was very impressed by the sound of this group, and the diversity of players. This goes to show that a band can sound just as fantastic being inclusive rather than exclusive. This march is actually a light step out of my usual style. The melodies are much more posh sounding; comparable to many European marches. It also marks my first use of a 6/8 to cut time change and da capo repeat. The driving low brass lines contrast the delicate upper wind figures.
This march premiered in the Summer of 2008 by the Windham Concert Band in Bolton, CT.
Key: Bb, Eb
Meter:6/8, Cut time
